The bible and encyclopaedia of wastewater engineering

I first got exposed to the textbook as an undergraduate student in civil engineering. Served as an excellent in depth textbook for that level. During my masters program it was a good starting point. As a consulting engineer, I can find most of the basic and fundamental answers. The language is lucid and simple. I have read lots of books on wastewater engineering. Agreed that there are more detailed texts available on specific areas of wastewater treatment, but this textbook does a very good job of striking that balance just right of covering material in enough detail for students and the practising engineer. It is usually enough unless you are writing a masters thesis or a doctoral dissertation. This text, together with the companion textbook, Collection and Pumping of Wastewater has served me very well during my college and professional career. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a good book on wastewater treatment. I very respectfully disagree with the gentleman from Istanbul above who feels that this book is poor. When taking my PE exam, if I was to be limited to just one textbook on wastewater, I would take this one.

The book gives the modern process engineer enough background to engineer complete waste water treatment plants. Specially the biological part is very good. Only at the physical chemical part, the information is based on installations produced in the US. The European (nicer) designes and developments are not described in the book.

fourth edition overdue!

there is a bit of truth in all the above reviews. It has not entirely been my bible, but more a Readers Digest version; if I need a quick answer, it is the first book I grab. Yes there are a lot of mathematical mistakes or misprints in it,and that includes a good number of the worked examples, which rather defeats the purpose. Yes it is very American orientated, but it also has tables and footnotes throughout, giving useful or immediate conversions to other systems, well, metric that is, not imperial. There are a lot nicer processes about, some definitely European. But that misses the point a bit: the most fundamental problem is that the book is nearly ten years old. Therefore it is not surprising that newer processes are missing. I am desperately looking forward to a fourth edition, and I'll be the first to buy it! In the meantime I'll keep using the third. But what happened to the (Indian) paperback version, which was a lot better priced for a book of this age? Still, there is no substitute!

Compelling and easy to follow guidelines to improve love-making.

No one ever taught us how to make love. Most men, myself included, just do what we do. On rare occasions, some men solicit feedback on their performance from their partners. However, it's hard to look your partner in the eye and ask for direct feedback. Your partner may be too embarrassed to provide feedback with enough detail to make it useful. Neither partner wants to hurt the other's feelings. When these conversations do occur, the information we provide to each other is frequently vague and half-baked. It's all we can tolerate.
This is really a terrific book!!! Cahill describes what good love-making looks like in explicit detail. The reader can easily identify what they are doing wrong, and ways in which they can improve. For those of you who know what you are doing in the bedroom, this book is useful refresher. For those who don't, this book is an eye-opener. Cahill makes a compelling case for why men need to fundamentally change their state of mind when making love. He suggests particular techniques that flow from this new state of mind, which are easy to follow. I highly recommend this book!!

This is an amazing book. I read it after Cahill's other book Lost in the Slipstream (which was awesome). This one is really different. The "story" is a conversation between two long time guy friends -Tony and James- about the mystery of women and how to satisfy them. Tony seems to have it figured out and wants to share all he knows with James. The conversation is fun and has all the frankness and detail of long-time friends. But the actual information shared (what Tony has learned) is right on.

This would be a great book for a couple to read together to open conversation and offer ideas about how to turn one another on (although most of it is about how to please a woman...there are also ideas for how to please men).

It's a fun and easy-to-access way to get information about sexual pleasure...it feels like hearing from a friend...to me it was way more intriguing and easier to read than a guide to sex would be. It weaves together both a great story and some great information.

It definitely has the potential to heat up your bedroom!

One-dimensional

To vague with no world building. Sometimes it was hard to follow. For instances, Garin was hurt in a crash and couldn't move. Even though he healed at an accelerated rate, (about 12 hrs.) they seemed to have sex right after the crash. The other thing about this short read, it has 77 pages. What you don't know is that it's doubled spaced, so it's really not that long.

77 pages of pure Scifi Alien Abduction Romance

Alien Lord's Captive is a spicy Scifi Alien Abduction story about Marie Cassidy, who is in the hands of an Alien Lord called Garin. To get there on planet Venari she has left her life on earth behind. But she never expected to experience anything of this. As she now is in the hands of the most feared Alien on the planed she is in a hopeless position, but also attracted to him in a strange way. I received a free copy in exchange for my opinion. If you are into these kind of stories. Risa Rills has written a fantastic book for you, as it is past paced, exiting and introduces you a whole new world. The book only has 77 pages, so it's a quick read and perfect for a time-out from reality.

This book is pleasantly surprising first one i've read from this Author Risa Rills they've done a great job at capturing her audience were you just got to keep on turning pages till the end this book is a real page turner for sure ! i have received arc for my honest opinion i'm glad i did the characters were right on point you understand what's going on and whats coming next and of course a little romance and some hot spicy sex of course! recommended!

Same book different name

Same book as Bound By a Promise but with different names and costs a lot more. I still love her writting and still buy all of her books.

The storyline was good and mostly enjoyable.

My biggest issue with this book is that isn't just "Inspired by a Diana Palmer classic, Bound by a Promise", it was that book filled out a little and with name changes. It was lazily done like when Emma told Connor her name was "Mary Kathryn"... that was the name of the heroine in Bound by a promise. Also when Emma was drawing Connor's initials in the sand "GC" for Garet Cambridge the hero in Bound by a Promise. Basically, DP just opened up her old word file from Bound by a Promise and tried to replace names and add a few chapters.

Other inconsistencies that bothered me, though I admit I am nit-picking:
- Connor was one of the 10 richest men in the US and possibly the world... and later stating he was a multimillionaire (in 2017, you'd have to be a billionaire)
- A taxi ride that only costs $3 - I wish!

To summarize: If you have read Bound by a Promise, skip this book. If you haven't, Bound by a promise is much cheaper.

Very disappointed!

Very disappointed in this book! I've been a fan of DP for many years and own all of her novels. I've been patient with the fact that her last 8 books have been mere shades of her previous work, all have similar storylines involving "gamers" and unnecessary discussions of the healthcare system in the USA. I personally read trashy romances to set aside (for a moment) ruminations on our country and our world. This plot is exactly the same as a book released many years ago. The character names have been changed and certain scenes expanded but nothing else has been altered. DP didn't even take the time to edit properly! At one point the heroine traces the initials of the hero into the sand, GC, except the name of the hero is Connor Sinclair! This is entirely unacceptable and the $11.99 that I spent (for unoriginal content, really!) for this book will be the last of my dollars to fill DP's coffers.

A great resource!

I found this book to not only be an interesting read but very informative too. It starts off as a guide for those who have never freelanced before but as you move on through the chapters it suggests that you have started your business and by the end it talks about the future.

It is a great book for those who are starting out at the very beginning but is also useful for people (like me) who have been working for themselves for a while. There is information on setting up a portfolio, what kind of person you need to be to be able to do this sort of work and has a big focus on those that work for clients.

For me, the best parts of the book were the profile interviews with other creative freelancers who are successful in their own business as well as the chapters on pricing, agents and balancing work and personal life.

The pricing chapter was particularly helpful to me, so much so that I actually wished I could hug the authors when I read it.

I also appreciated the chapter on finding an agent and whether that might be the right decision for you. The balancing of work and personal life (something I'm not that great at) was also helpful, especially from a standpoint from someone who's been-there-done-that.

The book is honest and funny at times and it doesn't make the world of freelancing sound like a whole lot of long lunches and never ending holidays, which I think adds to its usefulness. But it doesn't make it sound like a hell that you'll wish you never entered either. I will also note that while it is written for an American audience, other than the parts about becoming a business in a legal sense and the tax requirements, it seems pretty universal and certainly applicable to Australian and international readers.

I will be keeping this book close to hand so that I can refer to it over and over, I think it will be a great resource and I'm already considering buying another copy for a friend of mine who I think will benefit from it too.

Thanks to Meg and Joy for writing this resource, I think it's the kind of book that will stay relevant for years to come.

Great for established freelancers!

I haven't been freelancing for long, but I've been in the game long enough to not be too much of a newbie. I knew a lot of the nuts and bolts information about freelancing, but Creative Inc. was such a motivational help to keep me going strong! It's so nice to read a book on this topic without being discouraged about legal jargon and business plans galore! Creative Inc. is the perfect mix of detailed information and friendly advice. The interviews with a diverse selection of freelancers is also really encouraging. Everyone in the book really understands what you are going through and has been there themselves. I think this book is a great buy for any type of designer/creative looking to work for themselves. Hey, if you're stuck behind a cubicle, read this and it will certainly change your life.

Freelance Fantasy

This is hardly "the ultimate guide." If you're really wanting to freelance, this is fluff and fantasy. It's a cutesy book with some good information, but light on reality. One point not addressed was what one should do, and which happens if you don't get paid, and is rather important! Seriously if you want to get started, the book to get into is the Graphic Artist's Guild Handbook of Pricing and Ethical Guidelines, The Freelancer's'Bible, and/or join the Graphic Artist's Guild and/or AIGA. There are any number of books better than this. Fun to look at, but not very useful. Do NOT quit your job based on this book. Seriously disappointing.

David knew something exciting was happening. Uncle Andrew and his girlfriend Sarah were talking to Mommy and Daddy. Everyone was hugging and smiling. David peeked into the room.

"Come in, David," said Uncle Andrew. "We have some big news!"

"We're going to the zoo?" David loved animals.

"Better than that," said Uncle Andrew. "Sarah and I are getting married...and we want you to be the ring bearer!"

"Hooray!" David shouted. "I'm going to be the ring bearer!"

"Uncle Andrew," David said, a little bit nervous, "I'm not sure I'm big enough to be a bear, but I'll try."

Uncle Andrew explained. "Being a ring bearer means that you will be my special helper during our wedding ceremony. You will get to wear a grown-up suit and walk down the aisle holding our rings. It will be very exciting."

David wasn't sure it would be as much fun as the zoo, but he trusted Uncle Andrew.

A lovely gift book for a boy who is chosen to be a wedding ring bearer

"The Best Ever Ring Bearer: All the Best Things About Being in a Wedding" is a lovely gift book for a boy who is chosen to be a wedding ring bearer. David isn't quite sure what to expect from the job, but though being a ring bearer is different from his vision (teddy bears in wedding dress), he manfully goes along with all the wedding plans and arrangements, including being fitted for new shoes and his first ever grown up suit. He meets the bride's niece Sophie, who will be the flower girl for the wedding. Finally the big day arrives. David is glad he has practiced his slow walk down the aisle carrying the ring pillow with the rings tied to it, so they won't get lost. At the last moment there is a crisis involving a frog in Sophie's flower bouquet! It's David to the rescue of both frog and Sophie, as he carefully returns the frog to its fountain pond. Finally the wedding ceremony is done and everyone gets to eat cake. Uncle Andrew thanks his ring bearer, and David responds, "I had fun... but next time do you think we could go to the zoo instead?"
