Reliable and comprehensive reference

I just returned to a part-time clinical position in my semi-retirement and found that I needed to purchase this reference again. Years ago, I relied on it heavily for my assessments and found that it is still the best tool available for clinical dietitians for checking food medication interactions.

Great reference

I really like this book.It was exactly what I was looking for.The pharmacology info is a bit scanty but I have a Davis Drug Guide to supplement it. There are also a few drugs that need to be added.This book is a great reference for ht/wt charts and all the additional info it contains.I appriciate that it gives info on IV drugs.I will say that for the price this book is very flimsy and will not hold up well if you carry it around in your pocket.The spiral binding is sturdy plastic but the cover and pages are very thin.In spite of this I still rate it a five because it is full of very useful info and is a great reference for patient teaching.

Dissapointed in product quality

The product itself is a great asset to any medical professional.
However, the book I received is incomplete with missing pages (entire 15-20 page sections), sections are organized in the wrong alphabetical order (ex: second half of the "T" section is inexplicably placed in the "N" section) and the book ends abruptly at the "V" section, lacking the W, X, Y and Z sections.
Annoyed I will have to return this book and wait for a new one.
I hope that everyone else has better luck in product consistency than myself.

FOCUSING ON CONTAMINANT FATE AND TRANSPORT, DESIGN OF ENVIRONMENTAL-CONTROL SYSTEMS, AND REGULATORY CONSTRAINTS

This textbook details the fundamental equations that describe the fate and transport of contaminantsin the water environment. The application of these fundamental equations to the design of environmental-control systems and methodologies for assessing the impact of contaminant discharges into rivers, lakes, wetlands, ground water, and oceans are all covered. Readers learn to assess how much waste can be safely assimilatedinto a water body by developing a solid understanding of the relationship between the type of pollutant discharged, the characteristics of the receiving water, and physical, chemical, and biological impacts. In cases of surface runoff from urban and agricultural watersheds, quantitative relationships between the quality of surface runoff and the characteristics of contaminant sources located within the watersheds are presented.

His research interests also extend to wetland hydrology and vadose-zone hydrology. Dr. Chin is a recipient of the prestigious Collingwood Prize awarded by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

The best book on fate and transport

This book is simply the best book on fate and transport in the water environment. I have used other available books (e.g., Thomann and Mueller, Fischer etal, Schnoor, etc.) but they are all outdated and less comprehensive and less useful than this one.

Great text and reference

I purchased this book for a reference for the PE Civil exam. It covers topics I couldn't find in other text books, mainly relating to processes and quality of natural waters. I thought about selling it back after I passed the exam, but decided to keep it because the information covered is great. It is heavy on fate and transport process equations.

WHEN TO GO Zanzibar’s climate is typically tropical, making for hot and humid weather most of the year. There are two rainy seasons. The "long" masika rains (dubbed the "Green Season" by some hoteliers) fall from March to May, and are especially heavy from April onwards when some of the larger hotels close. The lighter "short" mvuli rains come between October and early December. The end of both rainy seasons is heralded by blustery winds. The rest of the year is hot and dry, with temperatures gradually increasing from July until the onset of the short rains. Ramadan (see p.30 for dates) is not the best time to visit, as most restaurants are closed by day and the atmosphere, especially in Stone Town, is not at its brightest.

Kindle / iPhone compatibility:

I purchased this guide primarily for the maps of each beach village. I wanted to see how closely the hotels and restaurants were located to one another and to the villages and main roads. Unfortunately on the iPhone the maps are too small read and magnifying them makes the map image highly pixelated and illegible.

Another problem is that I wasn't able to loan the Kindle book. I wanted to transfer the book to my travel partner's iPad, but the publisher (Amazon?) does not grant loaning rights.

I appreciated the sections on responsible tourism, the blunt, honest yet humorous bit about male prostitutes, and the information littered throughout the book about respecting local culture and appropriate dress. It was a great mix of tourist information and reality.

I would recommend anyone interested in this book to either purchase the physical (non-Kindle) version or use this book only for iPad.

Useful guide

This guide is very useful. It gives a good background on the island and helps with planning the trip. The historical and cultural info is excellent. We stayed in a hotel as part of a package, so the book was not critical. However, my daughter visited Zanzibar as part of a back packing holiday and the guide was incredibly useful.

The book it's self is as it should be. It is in good shape. The problem is the CD is a web CD. Once it has been used the first time it is no good for the next person. I contacted the publisher and they will not issue another access code for it. Therefor it can not be used again, so I have to buy it again.

HUMAN RELATIONS Personal and Professional Relations 2nd edition

This book was required by my college for a recent class. The college only sold a special edition made for them. It had pages intentionally removed. The instructor kept referring to some of those pages. I was glad to get the book at such a good price and delivered in a timely manor. And all the pages are there.
