Excellent well written encyclopedia of New York Pizza. Detailed history and interviews with the people that originated NY's pizza traditions, styles and techniques. Also provides a complete and personal tasting reviews of many of the pizzerias in NY. Highly recommended for pizza foodies

Great book about pizza in NYC

Great book about pizza in NYC. Love it. I only wish it covered the Ray's on at 6th Avenue and 11th street in Manhattan. That is the slice pizza place that had lines around the block in the late 70s. I don't think that had happened before with a slice joint before that. It's important in the history. I know. I was there. Yes there "Ray's" before this one. But this Ray's started the Ray's craze. It did. It later became Famous Roios.

Fun and informative!

I'm a big fan of Peter Genovese's books and this one does not disappoint. It's full of wonderful descriptions of literally *hundreds* of pizza places in all five boroughs of NYC, plus it has lots of great photos.
I had the pleasure of attending a "slide show" talk given by Mr. Genovese on July 17 and it was terrific; really informative and very humorous.
