Lord Alexander finds the small child to be his ward is enchanting when he takes her into his home when she was nine. Perhaps spirited would have been a more appropriate adjective as she grows up, seeming to test him at every turn. At nineteen she is informed that it is time she be wed. Determined is another word for the very beautiful, woman and Cassia soon proves she is not an easy woman to impress. It is only when she is introduced to a man that does not seem interested in the rude young woman, and only when he is stronger than her own spirit does she realize that quite possibly she has met her match. This is one of the books in the Medieval Maidens boxed set. It is very well written and an absolute delight to read. Highly recommend for anyone that likes their heroines soft and spirited and their men dominant and caring

Love this story

Cassandra, or rather Cassia, lives with her guardian, Lord Alexander. We start the story with her being birched by Lord Alexander for kissing a groom. But, that story is not true. She had her maid tell Lord Alexander that so she could get disciplined. She has discovered that she enjoys being birched by Lord Alexander. So, Lord Alexander feels that he needs to find someone for her to mar even though he has feelings for her. Cassia does not want to marry, so she finds fault with all of her suitors. But, then she meets Willhelm and she discovers that maybe she does want to marry. Alexander and William come to an agreement and Cassia goes to Willhem’s home or a week to see if she can be obedient. Many more spankings occur and there is a HEA. Love this story! I give this story 5 stars.

Cassia is an unusual woman for her time. She is a woman who knows exactly what she wants and is determined to get it. As a young girl, Cassia becomes aware of her arousal during a spanking by her guardian. As she grows older, she uses bad behavior to ensure she gets spanked to have these erotic moments. When her guardian looks for a husband for her, Cassia continues her bad behavior to ward off any marriage to a man. Finally, she meets Graf and goes too far. It was fun reading about a man who refused to spank for bad behavior, but spanked for good behavior. It all comes good at the end with everyone getting what they deserved.

Le Corbusier would later describe these as "my guide, my choice" and as his "time-honored ideas, ingrained and deep-rooted in the intellect, like entries from a catechism." As a child, Le Courbusier (then Charles-�douard Jeanneret) was immersed in Masonic thought (a big part of social life in his Swiss hometown), which elevates the right angle as a symbol of righteousness and life. This is a draft, not a final product

Simply put, this is the equivalent of someone's dissertation in draft form. The photos are interesting, but the text is nowhere as sexy as the title makes it sound. It is very dry and academic in nature. Not compelling even for the educated reader. There are numerous grammatical errors. For the reader who wants to be enticed, this is not the book you are looking for.

Its often hard to put into words one's relationship with self and God and our reason for being. The longing for love and the moments of pure grace that fill our hearts, with the simplest of joys that remind us of the unjourneying I need to take in order to feel God in my being.
This book evoked a deep sense of gratitude the words and images it created, short stories and poetry stirred my heart with an understanding of our deepest yearning. Thank you Janaka.....

Great Read (for a school text book)

I guess the title says it all 'Great Read (for a school text book)'

This was a book that was required for a class I took. I read it from cover to cover. I have to say - each chapter was well written and interesting. Each chapter addressed a different natural resource (for example air, freshwater, etc) including many I never considered (like top soil).

There is a newer edition out there. I contacted the publisher about an update. In hindsite I cannot believe that I, a simple minded student, would ask a publisher for an update! I guess that's just a testament to how interesting the book was, I was thinking perhaps maybe a pdf containing the 2 new chapters. The response I got was NO!

Now that the stink eye has been focused on the publisher, there was one point in the book that was a bit annoying. I did not like how the text kept refering to a picture or figure or graphic that almost always was on the next or the previous page turn. I guess that's the challange of the publisher and will always be a problem with the published medium.

OK ... so maybe I dont particularly care for the publishers, but it wont stop me from buying another book from them and this is still a great book.

Looking for this and the others for a long time

I am glad to see Prometheus Trust keeping these important studies in print, I am also glad to see there a local distributor stocking these items. I also purchased the rest of the series which has been out-of-print for many years now. I hope Prometheus will keep a ;look out for other works to re-print. A couple were originally issued only in paperback now I have a casebound edition. If these are print on demand editions it is hard to tell. I would like these comments to apply to the rest of the volumes in the series.

Solid Scholarship on Platonic Philosophy in Late Antiquity

The Prometheus Trust has done a great service to those interested in philosophy in late antiquity by reprinting Westerink's 'Anonymous Prolegomena to Platonic Philosophy'. I first came across this book 20 years ago in a university library. I found it interesting but it was already out of print and second hand copies were expensive. Then I found it had been reprinted so I knew I had to have it.

The first part of the text is a biography of Plato. It is full of exaggeration and wild praise. It is the pagan version of hagiography. The second part is an introduction to the Platonic curriculum in the Neoplatonic Academies in Alexandria and Athens.

The sections are as follows:
I - The life of the philosopher
II - The character of his philosophy
III - His reason for committing his ideas to writing
IV - His reason for choosing the dialogue form
V - The elements of the dialogue
VI - The principle of subdivision of Plato's dialogues
VII - The provenance of the titles
VIII - The framework used in the dialogues
IX - Rules for establishing the theme of the several dialogues
X - The order of the dialogues
XI - The methods of instruction used by the most divine Plato

This book is not particularly long. With the introduction it is not much over 100 pages long. The Greek text is provided so the price is fair. It is a hard cover with a good binding (I hate it when books fall apart).
If you are interested in the 'Ancient Commentators on Aristotle' series then this is the book for you.

I was provided a free copy for an honest review

A very emotional read, two people both deeply scarred by the people they loved found each other. Jaime's story really broke my heart a young scare girl made a decision that caused her to cut herself off for ten years. Ethan's story was just as sad adding insult to injury having his past come back into his life just as he finds Jamie was even worse. The story surrounds Jaime and Ethan as they face their pasts and find the light at the end in school other.

I really love this series so far. The characters are believable and colorful. I love the romance and especially when they end, I don't feel that the book leaves me hanging. Every book is its own story.
I'm sure I will be reading all of them.
